Lake Tahoe is a wonderful area for biking during the warm months and has tons of options for all ability levels. What Do I Need To Go Biking In Tahoe?
Biking in Tahoe is a very popular activity, which means you have a ton of great options for renting gear and bikes. For starters, it’s best to plan out which type of biking is best for you. In general, you can choose from either mountain biking or paved trail riding.
While mountain biking in Tahoe has a number of great trails for all ability levels, some may prefer a simple and scenic cruise along relatively flat and paved surfaces. No matter your preference, it’s always recommended to wear a helmet, additional padding if you’re doing more technical mountain biking, and to bring plenty of water. We should note that the Tahoe terrain is fairly steep, so it’s best to plan your route ahead of time when choosing where to go biking in Tahoe. Where To Go For A Scenic Cruise In Tahoe:
If a scenic cruise is more your style then not to worry! Tahoe has a number of great paved bike trails accompanied by some truly panoramic sights and vistas. Lucky for you, beach cruisers and standard bike rentals are abundant in Tahoe and often are located right alongside some great bike paths.
We recommend first choosing which type of scenery you’d like on your ride. For lakeside views, you can’t beat Tahoe City and Incline Village. For more mountainous and river views, be sure to check out Truckee and Olympic Valley!
